ABOUT THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Education started education as a 2-year Education Institute in the 1958-1959 academic year. Bursa Education Institute continued education with the departments of Literature and Mathematics. In 1968, with the addition of the departments of Social Studies and Science and Nature Studies, the institute's education period was extended to 3 years. With the opening of the Department of Art Education in 1974, the Education Institute reached 5 main branches. Starting from the 1974-1975 academic year, evening education also began at Bursa Education Institute along with other Education Institutes.

In 1980, as a result of the decision by the Ministry of National Education to close all Education Institutes, Teacher Training Colleges were established in their place. In Bursa, particularly, a Teacher Training College was opened with a focus on Foreign Languages, offering education in a total of 6 branches, including English, French, German, Art Education, Physical Education, and Music Teaching.

Currently, the Faculty of Education continues its education and training with 14 programs within 8 departments.

DEPARTMENTS OF OUR FACULTY

The Department of Computer and Instructional Technologies Education is a department that prioritizes the requirements of the digital age, offering education in areas such as coding, programming, and robotics, and aims to integrate information and communication technologies into the education system. The Department of Mathematics and Science Education consists of the main branches of Elementary Mathematics Education and Science Education. Students in these main branches are subjected to an education system aimed at acquiring the knowledge, skills, and higher-order thinking abilities required in the 21st century. In this department, teacher candidates are able to follow scientific developments and achieve professional development with various educational outputs by collaborating with faculty members conducting interdisciplinary research projects scientifically supported by institutions such as TÜBİTAK, Research Projects Coordination Unit (BAP), and the EU. The Department of Turkish Language and Social Sciences Education consists of the main branches of Turkish Education and Social Studies Education. The Department of Social Studies Education particularly focuses on training qualified teachers in terms of subject knowledge and pedagogy, and stands out with skill-focused values education and social responsibility projects in collaboration with the industry. The Department of Turkish Language Education focuses on teaching Turkish effectively, which has become a global necessity, and teaching Turkish as a foreign language, while continuing scientific research in this area. The Department of Primary Education consists of the branches of Preschool Education and Classroom Education. These branches train teachers with experience and skills in their own practice classrooms. Additionally, they collaborate with the industry to implement projects such as mobile education toy libraries to reach disadvantaged areas. The Department of Special Education consists of the branch of Special Education Education. This department collaborates with the BUU Special Education Application and Research Center (OZAUM) to train strong teacher candidates in this field. The Department of Educational Sciences, particularly with its branch of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, is a pioneering department in producing publications in the fields of educational sciences and psychological counseling, as well as in training qualified teachers. The Department of Foreign Language Education operates with the branches of English Education, German Education, and French Education. The department stands out with the quality of its faculty members and their studies on different language teaching models. The Department of Fine Arts Education consists of the branches of Art Education and Music Education. The Art Education branch has a strong education system that offers training in seven different main art branches. The Music Education branch aims to train qualified teachers in individual Turkish and Western music areas and continues its work in scientific and artistic collaboration with international communities such as the Bulgaria/Plovdiv Music and Dance Academy.

THE FOUNDATION OF OUR FACULTY

The Faculty of Education comprises 8 departments and 19 main branches, with 51 professors, 40 associate professors, 14 assistant professors, 28 doctoral teaching staff, 39 lecturers, and 22 research assistants who are pioneers in their fields, engaging in scientific research activities and representing our faculty internationally through their publications. The Faculty of Education aims to address the needs of its region on a national scale through collaborative projects between the faculty and the industry. Researchers are conducting University-Industry Collaboration and Public Sector Collaboration projects with institutions such as the Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education, Bursa Governorship, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, and Provincial Police Directorate, in line with the requirements of the industry. These projects encompass various topics such as special education for autistic children, taking social responsibility, psychological assessments of disadvantaged and prone-to-crime individuals, raising children's environmental awareness and promoting active participation in urban governance, developing skills necessary for adaptation to multinational companies in future employment, urban design for creating a child-friendly city model in Bursa, establishing an English learning environment and fostering university-community connections, mobile education toy libraries, enhancing health awareness among adolescents, integrating at-risk children into society, and skill-focused values education. Researchers are gaining academic experience and development by collaborating with stakeholders in the field through these projects. These studies, which yield highly productive results in terms of planning and conducting research in the field, have also been supported by qualitative publications that draw attention to various dimensions of the research process. 
The mentioned studies are designed based on field research in the context of public spaces and government institutions. Subsequently, the research process and results are disseminated through scientific publications and presentations to increase their widespread impact. Furthermore, within the Faculty of Education, there are also research projects conducted collaboratively with researchers from European Union countries such as Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Bulgaria, and the United Kingdom, aiming to enhance the international development of research resources. These projects are carried out jointly and completed through international connections. These projects are supported by the European Union and the Bursa Uludağ University Research Projects Coordination Unit (BAP).

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES OF OUR FACULTY

The Faculty of Education offers a Dual Major program during undergraduate studies, enabling teacher candidates to obtain diplomas in two different teaching fields upon completion. Additionally, the Faculty provides opportunities for thesis-based master's programs in fields such as Computer Education and Instructional Technology, Education Programs and Teaching, Educational Administration, Turkish Education, Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, Preschool Education, and Art Education. Moreover, it offers master's and doctoral education in Counseling and Psychological Counseling, Music Education, Science Education, Mathematics Education, Special Education for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Social Studies Education, Classroom Education, German Language Education, French Language Education, and English Language Education.

The Faculty supports undergraduate students' opportunities for international education through programs such as Erasmus, Erasmus Plus, and Secondos, collaborating with established institutions like the University of Innsbruck in Austria and the University of Koblenz Landau in Germany. ACHIEVEMENTS OF OUR GRADUATES

Bursa Uludağ University, according to the 2017 Teacher Qualification Test (ÖABT) report announced by ÖSYM, has achieved success in the top 10 universities in Turkey in the KPSS121 scoring category used in teacher appointments. It ranked fourth in Primary School Mathematics and Social Studies teaching, sixth in Mathematics Teaching, eighth in English Teaching, and ninth in Preschool Teaching. Continuing its educational and teaching life with the historical accumulation inherited from the Bursa Education Institute, the Faculty of Education has notable alumni such as Yaşar Çağbayır, who won the Idea and Research Award in the Necip Fazıl Awards category for the Ötüken Turkish Dictionary project containing 310,000 Turkish words.

It aims to prepare students who possess the cognitive, emotional, social, and managerial skills necessary for the teaching profession. The faculty aims to achieve this by providing students with an academic staff capable of producing and utilizing scientific knowledge in the academic field.
