The Import-Export Program aims to meet the need for qualified, experienced, and specialized labor in the field of foreign trade, which is the lifeblood of the Turkish economy. The foreign trade departments of businesses are among the most dynamic and promising units, and having trained, expert personnel in these departments is a key factor in facilitating businesses' international expansion.

Since the economy of Yenişehir District is based on agriculture, trade in the region has developed around agricultural products. Yenişehir is home to the region’s primary vegetable crop, peppers, as well as other fruits and vegetables. Consequently, approximately 40-50 companies are involved in exporting fresh fruits and vegetables each year. These companies have also set up packaging facilities, turning Yenişehir into a hub for fresh fruit and vegetable exports. With the start of scheduled cargo flights at Yenişehir Airport, the district is expected to become a center for agricultural product exports.

In this context, it is important to note that Bursa is also an industrial city, with its industries heavily focused on import and export activities.

Following Turkey's Customs Union agreement with the European Union (EU) and efforts to align with EU regulations, various rules have been implemented to ensure product health and safety standards, particularly for exports to the EU. These standards are essential for agricultural producers and exporters, making it necessary for them to collaborate with universities, especially through the foreign trade program.

The goal of vocational higher education institutions is to train qualified middle-level personnel for the foreign trade sector. By establishing practical application protocols with businesses, the program ensures that students are well-equipped with strong educational infrastructure, high performance, and knowledge, contributing to the economy.

Graduates of the program can work in foreign trade companies, bank foreign exchange departments, customs brokerage firms, and shipping companies, and, if successful in exams, obtain a B Certificate to work as Assistant Customs Brokers.
